On the lines of Baasha Bhai,Velu Bhai and Vishwa Bhai, here comes another powerful Bhai(DON) from kollywood as Raju Bhai; who enjoys killing and also finds time for some love. A simple revenge story.

Suriya looks in dashing and smart new look. You could also find out this Anjaan trademark hairstyle resembles as same as famous Brazilian football sportsman "Neymar".

 

Santhosh Sivan's magical cinematography throughout the film gives the much needed look to the Mumbai based underworld film, where he introduced one new camera technology in INDIA by using RED DRAGON camera for a visual treat. There was no darkness in the compositions, to bring out the brevity of the script.

All the shades and shine goes with the shot and art divisions. Anthony sets a crispy and rhythm to this script , as we know ANTONY is one of the best editor currently in kollywood. 

 

The Tamil audiences want Surya in a story based an acting based scripts but here it's totally inverted as in a mass action movie(with many flaws). Essentially, the film has to get over before the eatable gets over. Though not much time is spent on how Raju and Chandru became a name to be feared, the Raju Bhai phenomenon is given the typical cliched hype almost till the second half. Especially INTERVAL BLOCK sequence has hyped d 2nd half, director must have tried out in revealing the mystery at climax so that script's screenplay would be much crispier.

 

Samantha is cute and apt. The love portions almost work but Samantha has shown too glamorous than before which doesn't suits her much. 

Yuvan's background score gives varied colors. The siren used in the BGM during the build-ups is an experimentation. Special attention could have been given to the lip-syncs. BGM is too good but songs are not upto the mark except BANG BANG BANG.

 

Starting from the perspective of the challenged Krishna who goes to BOMBAY in search of his lost brother, the story dwells too much on the already experienced cinematic liberties like the act of love, friendship and revenge.

 

Stunt Silva has made the pre-interval stunt sequence live and realistic and it needs a special mention.Thanks to Suriya, Vidyut gets his slice of stunts in the flashback. Dissolved characters, unfurnished villains and song placement in flashback was not apt that made the flow of the movie to go down. 

The comedy portion of Brahmanandham(Comedian in MOZHI movie as FLAT secretory) forcefully put post-interval catering to the Telugu audience, since Surya has many Telngu audience , he has apt comedy sequence to cover those audience more over it's a huge speed breaker to the already dragging movie.

Surya in ANJAAN getup was totally mass , it was too good and the chemistry between Surya-Vidhyuth was awesome. Their friendship was awesome and loved to see those scenes throughout the movie. In first half SAMANTHA-SURYA romance was soo cute and lovely. Vidhyuth's dubbing was given same as in THUPPAKKI, that why it was so good to here.

Surya,Vidhyuth,Samantha done their job in a great manner but director's view and screenplay let the entire crew down in 2nd half, 1st half was good(but not much amazed).

To be frank #LINGUSAMY sir has wasted a great opportunity , he haven't utilized much with this combo. It's hard to get such a combo back again. 

The predictable climax makes the whole product worthless. One palpable connect towards the denouement is a life saver

Minus  : Worst Screenplay,few songs,2nd half drags.

Overall, it's an average movie. Since it was hyped a lot by Lingusamy in POST-PRODUCTION , audience expectation on ANJAAN will be damn high. People please go with less expectation so that ANJAAN will full fill your satisfaction.

It's 100% for a SURYA fan Neutral fan may or may not like but it's an Average flick for NEUTRAL AUDIENCE but it's a mass action movie for SURYA fans(there are few exception).

NOTE : Really i can't admit that this movie has gained CBFC as clean "U" . In this movie you could find extra glamor(more than normal U certificate movies) and also additional action blocks(including blood and harsh action sequence) and the doubt is how they(CBFC) has given clean "U" for this kind of movie. It must to be "U/A" r "V" if possible it can also be certified as "A"

VERDICT : ANJAAN failed to satisfy neutral audience but it may satisfy his fan's. It's 100% full and fully for his fan's.
